My favorite NYC memory... I have so many, it depends what part of the journey and with who I am talking about... But if I only get one, than I would have to say the day we had a snow day because of a blizzard and I made it rain inside... That day will always be one to remember...Sanchez and Jaci were out in the lounge room when I just finished an adventure movie and I remember saying to God, ‘I wish I could have an adventure like this in my life.’ Moments later after adjusting the heating, the pipe blow off and steam came rushing out. I grabbed the part that flew off and tried to put it back on but it was to hot and the steam was so forceful I couldn’t get close enough. I then ran out to the girls and as I opened the room they saw the steam that had filled our room start to envelope our living room. Jaci was shocked and couldn’t believe her eye and Sanchez was laughing and turned her video on as we went back in the room. By this point I couldn’t see my hand in front of my face and our room in just moments had changed from boring one moment to as though we had just walked through a closet into Narnia. We then decided that it would be best to try and open up the window but it was frozen shut. So, as the rest of the house was filling up we opened the front door and the steam didn’t slow down. We were the only ones home at this point and decided to call our intern director Jeremy but he wouldn’t answer. We got onto Mafia and on the other side of things at the boys house Jeremy was having a lovely long shower and ignoring all the knocks on the door. Typical Jeremy! 🤦🏼‍♀️So, we tried to call the custodian so he could turn off the heating but we didn’t have his number. We knocked next door and as our neighbor opened her door she freaked out thinking we had a fire by the amount of steam she could see that had filled the staircase. With her help we got onto him but he didn’t understand what we were saying. ‘Shut off the heating, turn off the pipes, the pipe burst and it’s filling our house with steam!!’ He said he would and hung up. At this point Jaci and I went back into the room and tried to open the window again and Sanchez jumps out and scares Jaci. Jaci screamed! She was definitely finding the funny side of all this. Now because of all the heat it had melted the ice around our window and it finally opened. It gave some relief for just seconds until, you wouldn’t believe it but it started to rain! The heat of the steam and the chill of the fresh air had now made the roof begin to pelt down with water. We were wet before but now we were drenched. Sanchez with her all consuming laugh began to laugh and there we all were inside our bedroom soaked, laughing from the hilarity of it all and it was raining!! Eventually after ringing again they turned off the stream and came and had a look. Our house was wet. Our room was flooded and as they wiped the walls and roof down with towels we sat in our living room under an umbrella singing, ‘I Make It Rain,’ while having TimTam slams and laughing about what just happened. This was definitely a snow day to remember.
